  Our Mission

The key to success is having fun in a learning environment with police instructors and firefighters.

Tell me and I will forget, show me and I may remember, involve me and I will understand.

This is a common philosophy behind Safety Villages. The aim of the Safety Village is to reduce the current statistics of 600 children injured each month in the London area. 95% of these injuries are preventable through education and hands-on experience.

This village consisting of a main building with two classrooms and a miniature town, is being built on
four acres of land provided by the Upper Thames Conservation Authority - with up to 30 scaled-down buildings, roadways, traffic lights and signs, an operational railway crossing and a school bus. After classroom instruction by police, fire and other safety personnel the children demonstrate their knowledge
of safety through use of electric cars, bicycles and walking around.

The target market is 15,000 students each school
year in the London area from Grade 1 to Grade 4.

Operate

Accidents are the leading cause of death and injury
to children between the age of 1 and 9. 600 children
are injured each month in London, 95% of these accidents are preventable. As children remember
what they can physically practice, elementary school children will have a chance to actually practice what
they have been taught on a broad variety of safety topics. This community project will be aimed at
reducing this alarming statistic by educating our
children about pedestrian safety, bike safety, fire
safety, rail and personal safety, stranger danger, electrical and other household hazards.

Teachers will be able to book a visit through the
village coordinator at no cost to the students. This
will all be possible due to the safe environment created with your help, and we estimate that the Safety Village will provide safety instruction to more than 15,000
school age children in it's first year of operation.

The Safety Village of London Area is a non-profit organization, with charitable tax status. It is being built by the community at the Upper Thames Conservation Authority at Fanshawe Park.

The Village will be managed by the Board of Directors and operated by members of the Police and Fire Departments. Active corporate sponsorship and educational support will be key to the success of the Village.
