Overall Expectations:
Identify safe and unsafe situations materials and equipment.
Identify and apply basic safety rules
Demonstrate understanding that adults make most decisions regarding safety rules and seek assistance when needed.
Pedestrian Safety, Block Parent Sign Recognition, Personal Safety
Students will be given instruction on personal safety and will be taught about the Block Parent Program.
After a 20 minute classroom instruction the class will be taken on a walking tour of the village and receive instruction on pedestrian safety.
Smoke Alarms, Match and Lighter Safety, My Friend the Firefighter, Crawl Low Under Smoke
The children are invited to listen to an exciting adventure story about fire safety. After they will learn the importance of knowing that firefighters are our friends and will be shown the different fire gear worn and how important the bunker gear is to protect them.
The children will then tour Sparky’s apartment where they will learn and practice what to do if their clothes catch fire. The class is invited to play the Smoke Detector game where they will learn and practice crawling low under smoke.
